Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Kent School District. Volunteers make a difference and their support and contributions are greatly valued. Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) support and enrich the lives of students and staff, provide help for individual students, and enhance aspects of the education process.
For the safety of students, staff and volunteers, all volunteers are required to complete a volunteer screening process which includes scheduling an appointment with the school office or department to a complete background check. During this appointment, you must complete a Disclosure Form, have your fingerprints taken, and have a Washington Access To Criminal History (WATCH) report run. Please note that a valid Washington State driver's license, Washington State photo ID, or passport is required for identification.
Volunteers shall have their background check completed and approved prior to having access to students, including field trip volunteers responsible for students other than their own child on a field trip. This process can take four to eight weeks, especially during "peak" seasons such as the beginning of school.
