TECH PREP

The South King County Tech Prep Consortium offers students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.  Students taking career and technical education (CTE) classes including auto, welding, culinary arts, marketing, careers with children, careers in education, exploring childhood, and business education (accounting, computer applications, word processing, web design, MOS certification and networking) can earn college credits if they receive a "B" grade or better in that class.  This is done using the direct transcription process where students receive college credit and a college transcript by completing high school courses that have articulation agreements in place with Green River Community College, Highline Community College or Renton Technical College.

Already having a transcript with college credits is excellent motivation to encourage students to continue their education at a post secondary institution.  There is no fee this year, students just need to sign up and get a B or better.

Students and parents wanting additional information on tech prep and classes that qualify for college credit should contact the Kent-Meridian career specialist at 253/373-7477.

CAREER BASED WEBSITES

Each year we subscribe to three career-based websites to help our students (and their parents) learn more about themselves so they can make well-informed decisions about their future plans (including career, school, financial information). The sites are:

Career Cruising

WOIS -Washington Occupation Information System)
CX Online
