All in all it was a great success, with a little more than 50% (900+) of our entire student body (and families) attending their session. Thank you again to our entire KM teaching staff (99% attendance), classified staff, parents, students and family members.
KM students will be registering for their 2010-2011 courses starting the last week of April. Check out the April newsletter for more details.

THE EVENT OF ALL KM EVENTS!
Alumni Choir Event April 17
The Friends of KM (a group of KM Alumni who raise money for scholarships specifically for KM students) has asked Mr. Bob Owren, a very popular and successful retired KM Choir teacher, if he would orchestrate an alumni choir event at KM. We are so lucky- he said YES! Now we are looking for KM grads who were involved in choir. This does not just have to be during the time when Mr. Owren was here. It could have been long ago in the late ‘50s when Mr. Haynes led the choirs or even in the ‘90s when Ms. Irish was the KM choir director. An evening of music and dinner are being planned. Mr. Owren is selecting the music and will send it to you via email. You can practice on your own until April 16th when there will be a full practice here at KM in the PAC. The event is Saturday, April 17th in the evening. Dinner is an option. Watch for ticket sales, you won’t want to miss this show! Bring the whole family. Email Bob Owren at - bob.owren@kent.k12.wa.us

Applications for students wishing to enroll in the Kent-Meridian Technology Academy at all high school grades for the 2010-11 school year are now available at all secondary school offices or online at the KMTA website. Applications must be received at the KMTA office at Kent-Meridian High School by April 30. Space is limited. Students will be selected from the applicants through a lottery process and notified of acceptance by May 10.
The Kent-Meridian Technology Academy is a highly successful Kent School District School of Choice located at Kent-Meridian High School and serving students in grades 9 – 12. Students enroll in the Academy from across the district to take advantage of today’s technology in applying 21st Century skills in a small learning community environment. All Technology Academy students are issued a district-provided laptop to use in their education at school and at home for the entire school year. Students who stay with KMTA to their junior and senior years will be able to select International Baccalaureate (IB) classes as part of their Technology Academy experience.

Saturday March 6th KM hosted over 1000 singers in the GRMEA Solo and Ensemble contest. Sound Connection ran everything from 7:30 am to 6pm. They did so with professionalism, courtesy and excellence. They showed the best traits of KM students for all of the region to see. On top of that, they performed for the first time in the large mixed group category, and scored a Superior rating, the highest rating possible in that category. Congrats to KM and KM choir students for hosting an outstanding event and excelling in their craft.
"Congratulations to KM Choirs for successfully hosting GRMEA's Solo and Ensemble contest and scoring a SUPERIOR rating, the highest honor possible, in the Large Mixed Ensemble category. Way to go KM!!!"
ALL Oral Presentations will be completed prior to Spring Break on April 2. Those not complete will not be allowed to participate in spring extra curricular activities past this date.
